WTF! Internet Explorer problem.

Has anyone ever had a problem like this? When I turn on my computer and it is loading up all my programs and such, internet explorer is trying to access an ftp file/folder/webpage or something. it says this:

the window in the back has this in the title bar:

ftp://ftp.exe/

the second window, actually, it is an error box and it says that internet explorer cannot access the folder. and it tells me to make sure the filename, webpage is typed in correctly. don't know why it is doing this.

luckily, i don't use this program for internet access. i use firefox. the best in the world.

when i start my computer next time i will write down what it says to post here for help.

it sounds like you got a trojan/malware going on, install spybot and a good anti virus like Antivir and do a full scan with both.

Follow Yoann's suggestion first and we can go from there, something sounds fishy

you know, i had the same thought. damn porn sites! LOL. i am in the process of doing that right now at 7:30 in the morning. i now have a better idea of what it says.

internet explorer is trying to access an ftp file: ftp://ftp.exe/

i suspected a bad download site but i didn't know if it was just something screwed up from an update.

then it goes to say that the server can not be accessed and advises me to make sure the address is typed correctly or something like that. but i'm on it with the Anti-virus stuff.

my computer is still doing the exact same thing. here is what it says exactly:

the window in the back says this in the title bar: ftp://ftps.exe/ - microsoft internet explorer.

the window in the front, which i suspect is an error message, it doesn't say it is an error but it says this:

ftp folder error. windows cannot access this folder. make sure you typed the file name correctly and that you have permission to access this folder. details: the server name or address could not be resolved.

i have never seen this before. there doesn't seem to be anything wrong with my pc just this annoying window and "error" message. someone please help me.

ftps.exe - Here is the scoop on leox.b worm as it pertains to computer network security. The big question: what is ftps.exe and is it spyware, a trojan and if so, how do I get rid of leox.b worm?

ftps.exe (leox.b worm) - Details
If your computer has the ftps.exe process on it, your system might be infected with a form of the leox.b worm.

ftps.exe is considered to be a security risk, not only because antivirus programs flag leox.b worm as a virus, but also because a number of users have complained about its performance.

leox.b worm is likely a virus and as such, presents a serious vulnerability which should be fixed immediately! Delaying the removal of ftps.exe may cause serious harm to your system and will likely cause a number of problems, such as slow performance, loss of data or leaking private information to websites.
From ftps.exe - ftps, leox.b worm, Virus Notice!

Try googling ftps.exe removal or something.

Here's something from Symantec about the leox.b worm:

W32.HLLW.Leox.B - Symantec.com

I have ran all of the anti-virus programs i have and nothing seems to fix it. i've even emailed microsoft and they didn't even tell me what they do in their email. they want me to call and sit on the phone for hours trying to explain this to them. i don't have the time.

let me know what you think.

sorry about the size of the post. didn't realize it was going to be this big.

Take a look at the following

Start-->Run-->msconfig

Look at the startup tab for anything strange

could be something providing access to something else. its probably required for something youve got licensed on your computer (think the spyware gam or whatever it was called when you installed kazaa) so it goes to something, but find out what, its caught my eye too. could be perfectly legitimate, could be ...illegitimate.... id look it up some more, see if it goes with your lexmark shit or whatever. The first 2 go for sure though
