![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Valve's Steam thing has pissed me off from day one. Now I'm just fuming. I remember when Steam came out, it was buggy and annoying as all hell, I never used it and hoped it would just go away. Now they've made it permanent, and required just to play their games. I bought The Orange Box the other day went it install it and then realized I needed to be connected to the internet not only to install the game, but apparently to play it too. This really sucks because it has to install these huge fucking updates, and for somebody stuck on dial up this is a MAJOR drag, I can't be connected to the internet trying to install a game for a fucking week. Fuck you Valve, you've alienated a part of your user base and have succeeded in thoroughly pissing me off. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Steam is a program that Valve has been using to distribute their games, and I think organize online games, buddy lists etc...it also serves as a copy protection tool. And, yes, this means that I own Portal, but can't fucking play it ![]() |

![]() | Open Steam -> File -> Go Offline You still need to get the patches installed initially, but after that if you just leave it in offline, you never need to worry again. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The trouble is getting that initial install done. I just pisses me off to no end... And it doesn't help that dial up on my Windows install runs MUCH slower than on OS X... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | have you got any friends who have DSL or something a bit faster than dial-up? In that case take your computer there and get it installed. |
