PC is locking up on me! HELP
OK first off im a computer noob! I do not know much about them so any info on my problem would be great.

OK when im on here say looking at a pic story my computer will lock up and not let me do anything. ctrl-alt delete dosent even work! It won't do anything! I have to shut it down by shuting it off and then restarting it.

I have a Compaq Presario running Windows 98.(old junk)

What do I need to do to fix this problem?

don't use windows 98, it's not supported by microsoft anymore

Dude it could be anything, PS, Hard Disk, bad ram,Proc, just about anything. And if you could find parts for it, it wouldnt be worth it. Try to score something better if you can.

You cn still use that old pc man - just install linux on there and it will be running a lot quicker. Win98 is really a bad option to still be using especially when there are so many OS options many of them free.

oh and don't forget to blast the dust in the computer, especially the processor heatsink.

what do you want to do with the computer and what are the specs? we can then narrow down what would be the best linux for you.

It's a free operating system that's been around for quite a while. Its advantages for you would be stability, ease of use, and compatibility with ancient hardware.
