Unhappy I'm pretty sure my second hard drive is toast.

Apparently the master file table is corrupted or the disk was physically damaged when I moved.

Good job backing up your data Cadenhead. Thankfully, I was too lazy to move all my recordings to the other drive (I've had this second drive for at least 1 1/2 years). I did loose some, but it's not that big a deal. I should be able to transfer my music back from my iPod to, right?

Anybody have any ideas on how I might be able to recover any of it, if it's possible. I know there are companies that do this sort of stuff, but I don't really think it would be worth the money just to get back some porn and a few tracks that I've been meaning to redo anyway.

Either way, any help or advise would be greatly appreciated.

find the utility called testdisk 6.9 and downlad it. You can recover lost\damaged partitions with this tool. If your NTFS or Fat table is corrupted this should be able to repair it. If you drive is toast, you're screwed.

"and I sure as shit don't fucking roll! Shomer shabbos!"

Thanks!

I'll see what I can do about that. My buddy tried loading Knopix (sp?) to see if we could get around it, but didn't work. I want to try some more options before I declare a total loss.

Check disk ran when windows started up and tried to fix the bad sectors, but now windows thinks the drive is empty.

I'd try a different disk recovery distro, I've had tons of trouble with Knoppix. Hell, I've had luck with starting Ubuntu up and downloading disk recovery tools, plenty of distros are worth a try...

Thanks.

I'll try again Saturday and/or Sunday because I work too much. I'm just going to disconnect the drive until then.
