![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | External HDD has died @_@ I just went to turn my external hard drive on (200GB) - which is full of valuable, irreplaceable stuff and the fucking thing does nothing when I flick the on switch. It's plugged in, FUCKKKKK!!!! ![]() I've tried changing the fuse, no joy. The transformer switching adapter light doesn't come on though, so that could be my problem. I reaaaally hope the actual drive isn't dead as I don't want to pay several hundred quid to get the data retrieved, not to mention I have loads of slightly dubiously acquired software and pRon on there. Fuck fuck fuck. Ideas? EDIT - So, I ordered an HDD shell and will be busting open this POS and moving the hard disk into it's new home. Which should hopefully sort things out. ![]() | Glad you fixed it dude! ![]() Just before my laptop died, the internal HDD started to play up and I was seriously worried I would loose all of 250GB's worth of data. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I'm considering using a site called Mozy for backups. You pay an annual fee, and get some software, and then basically can upload an unlimited amount of data from your computer (via folder-trees) onto their servers, which is encrypted and stored away for safe-keeping. The software also detects any updates to files, and uploads/replaces the one's already stored, so basically it's a pretty automatic process. |
