I don't think most other things undergo severe censorship, I'm certain most adult shops still sell X rated porn. The main problem is games. And good luck to them censoring the internet, I'm sure it'll work out.

In my experience things have not been confiscated, there's no rule saying it's illegal to possess a game with an R rating from another country, just that the game is refused classification coz it doesn't fit within the categories (which only go up to MA15+).

Acually my copy of American Psycho was sealed in plastic and it had an R18+ sticker on the front, I had to produce ID to buy it. I guess thats not exactly the same as censoring it or outright banning it though.

I dont really feel too much censorship here unless its related to gaming, although I don't watch much tv. I do remmember watching snatch late one night on TV and they edited out every single "FUCK" that wasn't neccecary for the sentance to make sense. They must have some kind of "F-word" quota. The voices would actually go out of sync with the picture untill there was a cut, and when it was a long shot the screen would just go black for a few seconds then the picture would come back in in-sync. I guess most peopel would think it was just a transmission error but I knew they were actually trying to keep the picture together with the dialog, good times.

I hate most Australian TV shows and the good ones always get shafted (Shaun Mcallif(sp?))

As far as confiscation goes, they're pretty lax about enforcing some of these laws, and like forelander mentioned, a lot of stuff is just refused classification rather than being outright blacklisted, meaning it's legal to own but not to distribute. As it stands, I've managed to get a few blacklisted movies into the country just by having them burned to unmarked DVD-R's by the sender. This whole GTA things just rubs me the wrong way because Rockstar made a point of mentioning that it would be uncensored everywhere and springing this so close to the release date really fucks over the people who have the special edition on pre-release or whatever. In short, F U GOVURNEMINTES!1!1!!!1

Im talking about his talk show, Micallef Tonight or whatever. Unless he got a show back after I pretty much stopped watching tv. I just thought that show was about 10x as funny as rove could ever be, then bam, they cancelled it for some really stupid reason.
