PS3 Ubuntu install help

Here's how it all went down - I was installing ubuntu on my ps3. the resolution was wrong (even with my kick ass new hdmi monitor) and i couldn't see all of the window, which i thought was not good since i was at the partition screen. I was trying to move the window so that I could see what i was doing and minimized the screen. now I can't get the window to restore and I'm not sure what power resetting will do.

anyone know how to get the window back up? or what will happen if i reset?

Have you actually done any partitioning yet?

Yeah, there's a fast partition option on the ps3 that allocates 10g to another os. so I did that and when i got to that part of the install, i couldn't remember if i had allocated more for the game system or the os, so i was afraid to do anything. that's when i lost my window.

btw, the drive has since spit out the disc and prompted me to hit enter, which i did. nothing much going on except a flashing green light on the ps3

I'm not savvy on how PS3s are supposed to handle things...

Yeah, it's kind of weird because i couldn't care less about the gaming part of the system. I wanted 350 dollar linux system that i could burn dvds on and get rid of my old giant television.

Looks like you can just restart the PS3, and shouldn't have any problems:

You can always restart the PS3 by holding down the front I/O sensor. If you hold it down until it beeps two times it will shut down. At the kboot: prompt, set the default OS back to XMB by writing:

Hey, that was very helpful. Thanks so much. Yeah, it booted right back to the game os with no problem. I guess I may try again. Nothing to lose it looks like. I really do want that linux working.

Are you using a version of Ubuntu tailored to the PS3?

Yeah, it's the 'gutsy gibbon' ps3 iso. It seems to be installing ok now. I'm at 34%. Pretty exciting stuff. This is why I wanted it. And I can put in a new drive, too. there's a 320g for a hundred bucks at wal-mart.
