PS3 Ubuntu install help

Glad it's finally working this time. I'm not interested in this at all, but I know some people who installed Ubuntu on their PS3s and they're all pretty satisfied. I guess it's defaulted to television gaming settings and once it's installed, you'll have to adjust it to that.

I'll be honest and say that so far I'm not impressed. I know that it's linux for 350 bucks, which is low. But it isn't blowing my hair back at all.

I've never met anyone who's bought a PS3 for Linux, though.

The people I knew who did it bought as a gaming system and used it for Linux as well because they could. It just seems stupid to buy a gaming console just for Linux, considering a computer could do computer stuff better than any gaming console could, just like a gaming console can do games better than a computer.

Keep in mind that the PS3 is a game console/Blu-Ray player, and the Linux thing is just a cool extra. I've been thinking about trying it, but I wouldn't really have much use for it.

Linux for 350 is low?

Linux for free on an old PC is low, Linux on a cheap $150 off ebay is low. Linux for $350 is pretty overpriced for what specs you'll have and what you'll be able to use......

]. You'd have to see what I've got. I got this killer monitor that will do vga and hdmi. So, the idea is that I could have two computers plugged into the same monitor, plus hdtv and blue ray, the linux work station... all with one keyboard and monitor. The ps3 is preferrable... well, fuck, look at the price of a stand alone blue ray player.

But the ps3 browser sucks. So i just need something stable that I can do my homework on and recreate without unplugging this and that.

I'll get the fucker up and running like a champ eventually. This is just a weird version of linux maybe. I still have yet to try the terrasoft ydl. that's next.

Weird version of linux? How so? Its one of the most prevalent distro's around, I choose it over everything else for how easy and normal it is to work with.
