E-mail to Cell phone spam!!

I got woken up several times this morning, at around 2am, 3:30 am, and 5a.m. and have gotten many more text messages throughout the day from e-mail adresses...

Thing is... They're sending SPAM messages!!! The e-mail address varies, but they're pitches for pharmacucials...

WTF?!

Anyone know of a way to stop this? I'm already on the do-not-call list. But how the hell can I thwart this?

Good question. I actually just got one today too. That fucking pisses me off to no end.

First of all, if you're sleeping, why not shut your phone off? I've never understood people who leave their phone/blackberry/whatever on 24/7 and then complain about getting emails/text messages/phone calls at all hours of the night.

It has an "off" button for a reason. It's my favourite button on my phones.

My carrier has a system in place where emails sent to your mobile require confirmation before you receive the actual message. You'll get a text message saying, "An email has been sent to your mobile address from somefucker@somefuckersaddress.com, reply with 'Read' to receive it." You still get a text message, but at least you don't directly get the spam. Report any spam you get to your carrier.

It was after an, um, interesting night out, so I thought maybe it was some chick I'd met at the bar that I'd forgotten.

I always turn my phone down to "Silence All" when I sleep. It's a beautiful thing.

Because I'm the kind of person that will recieve calls from friends in the wee hours of the morning needing to talk to someone.

I tell all myfriends that my phone is always on, so if they need to talk, i'll pick up.

Just because i'm nice like that.

It doesn't piss me off that I got woken up... It pissed me off because it was SPAM. I called Verizon and had them block messages from e-mails, but it also blocks me from SENDING to e-mails, which I used often, so I can't keep it off forever.
