But! you're spending more money when you eventually get the other instead of just buying it right off the bat!

I wanted a gaming rig right then instead of waiting another 2 weeks. I was starting to go kinda crazy without playing any video games in several months, and I don't play my bass anymore because it just doesn't motivate me (it just sounds like shit). It feels good to be able to play mass effect again!

Damn close! A blu-ray player.
I love my mobo, and I don't even use all of the features yet. I'll eventually get a SSD for Intel Smart Response. Right after this post, I'll post the specs in the OP |

Yeah I play Starcraft 2! I suck against other people right now because I hardly played it on the family computer... Other people we're usually on it.
It also supports Mass Effect with graphics turned all the way up, Portal 2 (haven't looked at graphics options, but it looks damn good), and ArmA 2 with battles of about 60 vs 60 at 20 frames per second at the lowest. I haven't played anything else yet. I'll play Mass Effect 2 when I finish my current playthrough of ME 1. I also want to play some old school games like X-Wing Alliance. I miss that game. |

You could get a card better than a 260, but cheaper than a 570 and then later buy a duplicate and run them in crossfire. That way you have something immediately, and can later upgrade without throwing away what you have.
The other thing is, do you really need liquid cooling? That case has good ventilation. Or are you planning on OCing everything? |

Unless you're going to overclock the shit out of your cpu, I wouldn't bother with liquid cooling.

Something else I didn't think about until now.... I could wait until the next generation of graphics cards is released.

ATi/AMD's new line (Radeon HD 7000's) start shipping about Mid-January and nVidia's GTX 600's will probably follow suit a couple months later.
I just recently (month ago) bought a GTX 570 off Amazon for $300, and have been damned pleased with it. I have access to a ton of different video cards as I work in a hardware compatibility lab for a software QA company and I checked out quite a few cards in my system before deciding on that one. The GTX 560 Ti didn't quite get me to where I wanted. The Radeon 6870 was alright as well. The Radeon 6950 was great, and performed better than the GTX 570 in about half of what I threw at it, but I'm so damned sick and tired of ATi's drivers being flaky and unreliable that I decided to pony up a little more cash for the 570. I was amazed to get a constant 50FPS on Skyrim at High settings, keeping in mind my CPU is a faltering Core2 Duo 2.2GHz (as the game is pretty CPU intensive). I have a lot of components for a new system, I'm just waiting for Intel Ivy Bridge to be released in March/April to finally buy a new motherboard/processor and finally build the new system. |
