Firefox vs Google Chrome
This just what I've found, others can chime in.
Firefox- overall decent web browsing but lags quite a bit when I run other applications, but not all the time. What I mean is it's not the most consistent speed wise. Some days it will be fast, other days slower then lava. Benefits- overall good speed, I don't get viruses as easy( compared to IE), fun to customize, and overall easy to use. Google Chrome- so far hasn't lagged once even when running any applications, the apps are cool, easy to use, good speed, and overall personally my choice The only really annoying thing with chrome is when you chat with someone it will say " -insert name here- has sent you a message" and does not go away even after you reply. You have to re-fresh the page. Brief I know, but I didn't want to get extremely in depth which I can. Oh and Chrome seems more organized than firefox, and firefox is good with that as well. Winner in my book is Chrome. I use both Firefox and a derivative of Chrome, SRWare Iron. Can't say that I have a preference between either of them, they're both cool. I use Iron as opposed to Chrome for a multitude of reasons, mainly because it's the exact same thing as Chrome, can use the same apps, but isn't filled with the stupid shit Google puts in there like tracking all of your movements. Hurray for Iron! I totally recommend it.

I'm not sure, but a Google check should put aside suspicions. Chrome is based on the open source browser Chromium, which is Chrome without Google's shit, but Chromium is a bit harder to get start up, but it's the exact same thing. Same with Iron, except it's a simple install.
Here's a comparison of Chrome vs Iron SRWare Iron - The Browser of the Future EDIT: oh the irony of using Google to find out if Google is tracking you with their browser! Chrome is much more lightweight. On my mom's ancient laptop, Firefox takes well over 45 seconds to start up the first time you launch it. Chrome was easily less than a second. Firefox used to be known for being lightweight about 10 years ago... what happened?
Also, some websites that don't work in FireFox and claim to need IE8+ (such as browser based VPN authenticating and such) seem to work fine in Chrome with older windows distros (such as win2k) that can't run IE8+ ![]() For most users... just try them both and pick the one you like. It's all preferences and there's no "super browser". Those are the deciding factors that switched me to Chrome though. |

I tried all the other browsers and had numerous issues. Recently converted to Chrome and never going back. So much better.

I've tried them all (almost).
I use Chrome on my Mac. If Google wants to track me, all they'll find are searches for porn and motorcycles. With the occasional visit here, or to a welding forum.

they're both good web browsers.
yes Firefox seems to get clogged after long use, but i've found a temporary way around that is to launch it as "firefox -P" and create a new profile. this will be clean and make it quick and snappy like a fresh install. i've been using Chromium lately since it seems a lot lighter. they're both open-source projects, so maybe they should unite together and create one uber-browser and call it Chrox to forever put an end to the browser war ^^ |

In all honesty, they are similar enough that its more about interface for me than anything else. I prefer Chrome's interface, though I am using Firefox atm. I keep both installed and use one whenever the other is giving me a problem loading a particular page. I personally love using Chrome, as it seems to work just a bit faster, even though it's an absolute memory whore. Plus I like how much more streamlined it feels compared to Firefox.

You know what, .... firefox.
I remember back in the day, when we all jumped on the Firefox band wagon. For the right reasons, too. IE needed a good kick in the balls. When I was learning web design years ago, we all thought FFox was the way to go. That it was more accurate than IE. Less buggy. Yes, this is all true. But the deeper you get into it, the more you figure out that really, FFox is an asshole. I see so many annoying bugs using Firefox. Simple text area scrolling bugs. I'm okay with Chrome. It's aight. I'm on a mac now, I'm happy with Safari for the most part, but once Chrome is all Lion-friendly I will get it again. FFox can suck it |

In Windows I still use IE. But thats because I barely use Windows except at work. I use Ubuntu Linux at home and also have a second machine at work running Ubuntu. I use Firefox under Linux and it's perfect. I have no need to use another browser. But I've never really dug Firefox under Windows. It just doesn't run anywhere near as fast and flawless as it does under Linux.

Ive been a FF guy for a few years but I think today Im going to try Chrome. I have never installed it on my rig so I think Ill give it a whirl. I have a pretty built pc so speed isnt always an issue but if its that much faster maybe Ill switch.
