Vista Transformation for XP Users....

This is courtesy of Gamespot.com. I found this a few months back and have been using it ever since. I read the Vista thread posted here and it was basically said that XP is better and you just want it to look like Vista. Well I found a free transformation pack a couple months ago that gives you everything visually that Vista gives you minus the widgets. (which you can just get from yahoowidgets anyways)

It gives you a new boot screen, sounds, cursors, icons, wallpapers, screen savers and themes. And Ive seen the real Vista running on Andrew's laptop and Im here to tell you that my transformation pack is identical to his. Here is the link, it is from Gamestop so credit goes to them:

Ill post a pic of my desktop as an example of what your windows and start menu will look like. Compare it with Andrew's pic of his vista on his laptop in the vista thread. Theyre virtually identical. And it doesnt slow down your system. It runs in the background and uses minimal resources. What you want to download is the transformation pack 4.0 in the first paragraph. The reason I didnt just direct link to that was so you could read over the whole page and make sure its something you want. Just thought Id add an alternative choice to the "my pc isnt hot enough to run vista" debate.

What's the volume control next to WMP on your taskbar?

Thats the new itunes minimized down. Im always running itunes and WMP at the same time so they both go minimized in the taskbar.

I used to use winblinds. It allowed you do do something similar to this (though it did not change the boot menu and all that)

Windowblinds was a total resource whore though.

Yah that's why I didn't reinstall it when I erased everything on my hardrive.

Well Ive got 2 gigs of ram and 3 ghz processor so I guess the smart ass answer would be .... because I can.

But basically I use itunes for music and im constantly getting podcasts and everything else. And I watch alot of movies on the net and WMP I use for that. So instead of opening and closing them all the time (something i got sick of real fast) I just leave em open. If this was my old pc, hell no. But I can get away with it so why not?

Yeah, stay away from windowblinds. They do have a vista skin but it doesnt do nearly everything this one does and this one uses like 10% the resources window blinds does.

Hell, stylexp is better than windowblinds in that respect.

I think I'll stick with using the Aston shell.
