Linksys problem
Ok, so I have 2 computers, one desktop & one laptop. My laptop crashed last week & I had to reinstall everything. So, I did, and now I'm having trouble re-setting up my linksys card.
I have a linksys wireless router hooked up to the desktop pc & a wireless card in the laptop. The network has a WEP key, I don't broadcast, and the router is set to only receive from the one MAC # I have for the card in the laptop. I've got the whole thing re-setup, & the laptop finds the router/network, & it says it's connected to the network, yet the linksys program says the internet is not available & I can't get on the internet. Any ideas? I can't think of what I'm leaving out. |

I'm not sure of your setup but you may need to go into "Internet Options" and uncheck "Automatically detect settings". That was the one thing I always seemed to forget to do when wiping/reinstalling.
Then again, I've never done the whole wireless thing so I may be way off... |

I would say, open the linksys progam on your laptop and choose "site survey" it will scan for connections and choose the one that your router is named. Also check and make shure your WEP key's are identical. Retype them something stupid like your phone# just to be shure. My g/f allways has this problem.
