RGD2127z VS. ESP SC-607B
Hello all, I am looking forward to joining the 7-string world with one of these choices, (poetential pup switch). I live in a pretty rural area and I am unable to test these out in store. However I enjoy both ESP and Ibanez necks. I prefer EMG pickups but I am open to BKP and Dimarzio. I mostly play through the Dual rectifier and sometimes through the Invader. With my settings my tone is closest to that of Whitechapel. My main concern is which of these guitars sounds least "muddy" through a dual rectifier. Also any sound/video clips would be great, youtube hasn't convinced me.
Thanks 02 WS6 TransAm/ ATI F1C procharger at 16psi C5R 440Ci block, 4.10 rears. 984RWHP/879RWTQ on pump/street. 1,367RWHP/1,270RWTQ strip. Best ET of 8.37 1/4 street legal, 7.44 not so legal. AKA Cobra Antivenom93 Z28 Twin 86mm turbos, Iron 408 TH400 trans, 4.86 rears. No Numbers yet. SOLD |

Not a big fan of the SC Pup placement. If I may offer an alternative on the ESP/LTD side of things. Look for either the LTD Deluxe H-1007FR which is an amazing guitar considering its not an ESP BRAND name or the LTD AW-7 Alex Wade signature which, IMO, looks friggen amazing. I cannot provide clips; only testimonials.
I own an LTD Deluxe H-1007FR and it's built amazing, sounds incredible and most of all feels perfect for me. It looks stunning and the EMGs sound great (although am considering swapping them for EMGx). HOWEVER, having had a go at an RGD2127z. I'm in love. Both guitars are amazing however the RGD just seems a tad superior. It's lighter, the neck is thinner and satinized. Passive PUPs are always convinient, although they are quieter then Actives. If I owned BOTH guitars I'd be content. But if you can afford the RGD; by all means, go for it. |

In my opinion go for the RGD2127z.

I'd go for the RGD only because I love Ibanezs and the higher end models never let me down.

RGD Prestige. No contest. Satin neck, Edge Zero 7 (easily the best knife-edge trem out there), the best upper-fret access this side of Rusty Cooley, 5-piece titanium-reinforced neck, immaculate fretwork and a superbly resonant body.
Also, this is a sample of the tone possible with the stock pickups. I don't know what it'd sound like through a Dual Rectifier, but if this is muddy then I'm the Duke of York: |
