Hey guys, Im kindof new here, and I have a question to ask you guys.
I am wanting to swap out only my bridge PUP on my Ibanez RG7321 for now since the stock ones aren't so great, and I am kindof torn on what pick up I should get. I have 100 dollars right now, and I am looking for a kindof Djenty/Prog sound, more or less of a mix between Periphery and The Safety Fire tone. Help is MUCH appreciated since me being a noob, I know pretty much nothing about this stuff. (First 7 string, I bought it in January). Thanks (One more thing, PASSIVE PICKUPS ONLY.) ![]() ![]()

I have the same guitar and am planning to go for the Crunchlab 7/Liquifire 7 set which is what John Petrucci has and Born of Osiris (since Lee uses JP's signature guitar).
They sound pretty djenty :P |

Every dimarzio can djent, obviously. You can choose between a Tone Zone, D-sonic, Evo, D-activator, crunchlab, or just a PAF7.

What would be the best for a basswood body though? I know that has to do with the tone of things, but yeah thanks. I will look into Dimarzios.

From what I understand, most everything but the D-Activator does quite well in basswood. As the DA was designed for mahogany, I'm 99% sure.

Do not put the D-Activator in a basswood body. It did not work for me at all.
I will say I love my Tone Zone and Air Norton I have in my Ibanez. It can do that word you call djent if you so choose.

OP, forgive me for kinda intruding on this thread, but I just bought a 7321 today, and I'm looking to swap out the pickups for some dimarzios/bareknuckles. What is the best passive pickup combo for this guitar? no worries about cost. By the way, looking for something that can do both djent and modern/classic death metal stuff if possible.

I have this combo as well. Amazing!
And THOUSANDS of people have put the D-Activator combo into their Basswood guitars. It sounds really fat and punchy. A little bright for my taste but that's nothing that a little EQ'ing on the amp can't fix. Music lovers show eachother bands. Guitarists show eachother tones. Trans Blue/Teal Quilt Maple tops

If you get a pickup that is covered you will probably have to route the pickup cavities! Just an FYI!
