![]() | How is it tuning the FR tremelo? will it take a long time to get the guitar in tune and to stay in tune? If i do a dive bomb will i knock the guitar out of tune? What are your thoughts on the 7420? thanks, X. |

You first have to get the guitar strings to a decent tension, then tune the strings. You'll be tuning the strings over and over again before they're actually in tune, because it's tension between the strings and springs that provides the bridge it's "lift". Once you get used to it, it'll be second nature to you. Oh and on most Floyd Rose trems, when you wang the hell out of the bar and then reset, you'll still be in perfect tune. In fact, you can press the bar down as far as you want, releasing ALL the tension from the strings and watching them flap in the breeze, then let go and you're back in perfect tune. Floyd's rock. I have one on every guitar I own. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Yeah, the New 7's are definitely not Blaze's- maybe the first few might have left the factory with Blaze's, and they were "officially" spec'd with Blaze pickups in the first catalogue, but I have yet to see a stock 7620 with Blaze's. Dimarzio can confirm this- I believe the bridge New-7 is based on a Super Distortion, and I can't for the life of me remember what the neck is, but Eleven59 was the one who I heard this from, so it's a matter of time before he shows up, I guess, and answers this for me. ![]() They're not half-bad pickups- when I first picked the thing up in the shop I bought it from, my first thought was "man, Ibanez has gotten a lot better at making pickups." It wasn't until I saw the catalogue later on that I learned they were actually Dimarzio. Clarity and definition is significantly better than stock Ibanez V series, although still not QUITE on par with the Air Norton/Tone Zone set I swapped them for. I agree with you on floyds- I think, given infinite means, I'd like to have one or two hardtails kicking around just for the hell of it, but I doubt I'd ever have a main "player" guitar that didn't have one. They're a pain in the ass, but once you get one, you'll never look back. -D "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

If they won't knock any money off, most decent stores will throw in a set of strings if you ask nice. Just remember to be diplomatic-it really goes a long way. Make sure you get the correct bar for the trem!!!!! Put it in and make sure it fits. It should be kinda tight. Born of Fire//--\\ Consumed by it Divinitus Infallibilis | |

![]() | LOL ok search ended. i went back to the store to check out both models that they had. i played the 7420 and its felt real good to me. I plugged them both in and the 7420 sounded sweeter to me. i realize that the guitar had nine's on them, and my six strings are 10's. i dont know if i should move to 10's on the 7 string or not, you guys here can give me some insight to that...anyway...i called over the floor manager and said ok...what can you really do on the 7420. He said to me how much do you want to pay. I told him flat out, i want to pay $100 with a smirk on my face. i dont want to insult you, but you did say what did you want to pay for the guitar. He said to me, well i got to ask my manager what he can do on it. I told him i dont really expect them to sell it to me for $100, but hell ask him. He came back and he said, OK...as is, and no returns.... Excuse me? yea $100 is fine. I blinked and said ok. sure. I picked up the 7420 the "magenta/pink" color. few dings on it. no whammy bar with it so ill have to get a replacement one. no big deal. tomorrow ill pick up some stings and get a dimarzio locking strap. when i get the cash ill get the guitar really looked at and set up. im sure this guitar sat in this store for a long time and the manager was glad to see it go. i am happier that its with me heheh.Came home explained to the wife where i had been....she wasnt thrilled but then i showed her the receipt where it says the guitar did sell for 800. and lets face it a girl knows when she sees a bargain. heheh So i have officially been "pimped" and got my 7 string thank you all for your quick response time and giving me good advice and guidence. X. \m/ |
