Picking Pointers?

Is there anyone out there that could give me any tips on cleaning up my alternate and economy picking technique or any exercises to do to improve right hand technique? It's generally okay but I'm looking to try to get my right hand work to a fine art like the greats. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What style of music do you play? If your looking at metal, and just want 3nps style technique, you can choose the finger movement school (Yngwie Malmsteen) or all wrist technique (Paul Gilbert/Al Di Meola), or a combination of the two.

I personally find that emulating them, and doing the classic Paul Gilbert exercise

is far better than doing exercises alone. Your mind will naturally be influenced by what you watch the greats doing, if you really focus on it.

If you want pentatonic and jumping all over the place stuff, watch Steve Morse.

As for economy and legato, definitely observe Brett Garsed and Frank Gambale's right hand.

Much thanks. As for what style of music I play, it's mostly metal. little bit of rock, and a lot of shred-soloing.
