kgad0831 can only hope to improve
i've had an RG7321 for almost 3 years, and if you get a GOOD tech to set it up for you i'd say go for it. mine had 2 dead spots on the G, but a set-up fixed it.

the pickups sound good on the high E all the way to the low E, BUT as with any ibanez i've seen, the bridge pickup is not as wide as the bridge so the Low B doesn't get picked up properly. its very muddy. but if you're going to play korn , it doesn't matter.

if you're gonna some necro, yngwie, or nevermore i'd get something better.

my next guitar WILL be a Xiphos7

haha, no danger of korn, don't worry, this guitar is destined for heavier things

I've been watching a 7620 on the bay for almost a week, it's up tomorow, but as it got to £285 today, i don't think that's going to be quite in my range, maybe i'll get lucky for my 21st in september, but that tube amp is out the window then....

7620's are great guitars, but usually go for around £450.

I might possibly be able to stretch to that, but being a student, I'll have to live like buddha for a while.... if i put away some money... and not actually spend it (unlikely, but could happen...) i might have enough after say... christmas... probably the best option for me anyway, as long as i don't change my mnd before then...

ola muchachos

I play the 7321 and i put the standard pickups back in! Yes, you read it right, i play again a normal standard 7321 and i have a K7 which i'm gonna sell in the future and i had a 1527 which i also sold. The only seven that's with me from the beginning is my damn lady bitch Angelina (that's the name of my seven).
Why in Satan's name did i need to take out my paf7 and the x2n7, why!!!
Because i like the sound she produces now. I'm not the only one dammit, Alex Webster of Cannibal Corpse preferred a damn old cheap Bass before they stole it from him. Why? Because he liked the tone of it even if it was "cheap".
We're talking about metal here.... METAL! And METAL is: you go in a shop, try that guitar and see if you like it. Don't listen to tech-fanatics (unless you're one yourself), this is about music and with the right setup even the 7321 can chop off some heads, dude. Just try them and see what works best for you.... that's metal, fuck the stereotypes and fuck the rules....

If you like it, great. If you don't, great. It's a win-win situation if you try it.

"Puppies will lick up their own urine off of the floor... it's no wonder they like Becks!" (Matt Crooks)
I have never conversed with you before. I have no tongue for it. No one, not even you, will remember if our rep was good or bad. Why we posted, or why we rep'ed. All that matters is that two rep'ed against many. That's what's important! And if you do not listen, then to HELL with you! (Conan)

Alex Webster uses top of the line gear, I don't know what you're smoking. The reason he didn't seek out his old cheap bass is because he figured out that higher quality equates to better tone.

Look, if you're happy with your stock RG7321, congrats, but there's a good reason why 99.9% of the rest of the world thinks they sound like shit with the stock pickups. Some things are opinion based, but some things are just fact. Fact is the 7321 has flimsy cheap components in crucial areas, and their pickups are no exception.

Caring about gear doesn't mean we're 'tech-fanatics', it means we actually give a shit about our craft and tone. That's a good thing. Of course you're right, people should try things out and see what they like, I agree with you there. But the RG7321 does have some legit flaws that people here have pointed out, in order to help the original poster.

I wouldn't wish an RG7321 on anyone, but that's just me. As everyone else in this thread has mentioned, you can get a used MIJ Ibanez RG7, ESP, or Schecter for the same price as an RG7321 new.

Dude, i don't smoke

Better tone is a question of taste and not (necessarily) of hardware.
That's why i told him to try the guitar before buying something based on specs...
I didn't intend to piss you or somebody off
Sorry about that but we see it everyday, everywhere. Why should i buy a Porsche if i'm the Volkswagen-type? The Porsche has better hardware hence the performance is better. Yes, on a racetrack.
Try those things before buying them, don't rely solely on hardware like guitars were things like cars. Those are instruments and they have souls. I also played some expensive and feature-packed stuff and all i can tell that the sound was good with good hardware but it wasn't me.
Everyone should consider this point if he really loves his instrument or intends to love it. Guitars are not some stuff that lays around at home and can be played if wished. It's a commitment for some of us and the guitar becomes a part of our personalities. I'll never sell my 7321 not just because i like her sound but also because i love especially that guitar and no matter with what specs or price someone comes, i'll never give her up because to me she sounds just right. I will buy others and i will surely try to love them but my 7321 will stay with me for the rest of my life. It's emotional and it's okay
