Longtime guitars, new to 7 string

Hey guys,

I've played guitar for many years, but just getting into 7 stringers now. I should be getting my first one (RG7620) in a couple weeks. I'm also getting a UV7BK, just because I've wanted one for the last 17-18 years that they've been out lol.

My question is this: will I want to change pickups on the RG7620? And if so, what would you recommend? I play a little bit of every kind of rock, except I dont get TO heavy.

I'm also looking into building my dream 7, so the recommends on pickups would help there too.

Thanks

I'm getting the 7-string because I need to hit the studio by the end of the month. Think Dream Theater-ish. I know Petrucci has an Air Norton and D-Sonic in his EBMM's. I hear the D-Sonic is good for 7-strings and mid-y stuff. As for tone, listen to Dream Theater's Awake album. Petrucci used a Recto. and a MkIIC+ for that album, recorded the rhythm tracks 4 times, 2 times with the Recto and 2 with the MkIIC+.
