![]() | A good 7 string Method? Okay... so i've been playing standard guitar for 13 years, and i can hold my own... i'm no Steve Vai... but i can get out of my own way. I just got my first seven string about a month ago ( a shecter omen-7) and i was wondering if anyone could reccomend a good seven string method book with tablature, geared towards a begginner, as i'd like to take it from basics and re-teach myself. |

Adding that B (or low or high A, whichever you choose) doesn't change how to play an instrument, it just adds notes in a new place. Basically, take what you know from playing all those years, and just add that extra string to it. I am the mask you wear. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | There aren't a ton around, considering you can just apply any of your 6 string guitar knowledge to a 7 string. I did a little searching for you though. Amazon.ca: 7 string guitar: Books I reached these keeeeds! |

Thanx all around guys... My General Music theory knowledge is a little lacking...that's why i was interested in a method book. I'm planning on going back to take a few lessons with my old teacher and fill in some of those gaps. I figure after 13 years I should probably get an idea of WHY i'm doing what i'm doing. The last thing i want to be is one of those guys who plays with one finger on his left hand. | |

![]() | This is my kind advise to you learn the bass parts for music you already know, get familar with the instrument (not too hard if you're already a guitar player, the stretching and finger strength will already be there), and then just pick music to learn. Metallica, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath are pretty much metal classics and have a range of basslines ranging from easy to hard as nails. Most pop-punk bands like Blink, Greenday etc have pretty simple basslines which are great for warmups and helping to improve picking (or fingering) consistancy. some songs for your practicing Beginner Metallica - Enter Sandman Anthrax - Madhouse Megadeth - Peace Sells.......... But Who's Buying Metallica - Master Of Puppets Megadeth - Symphony of destruction Megadeth - Go To Hell Intermediate Metallica - Orion Anthrax - Caught in a mosh Anthrax - Got The Time? Metallica - My Friend Of Misery Metallica - For Whom The Bells Tolls Megadeth - Take No Prisoners Megadeth - Kick The Chair Advanced Metallica - Anethesia (pulling teeth) Rush - YYZ Metallica - Battery ![]() ![]() ![]() Guitar Tabs |
