![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A kahler feels like a tunomatic bridge for the most part whereas the floyd feels like a strat bridge. They used floyds on his models while Kahler was under the weather but once Kahler came back they put them back on them. read Darren's post |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Kahlers absolutely DO pull up. I have owned one, so i can speak from first-hand experience. Some models, like the new "hybrid" models, allow you to lock out the pull-up motion so they're "dive only" which helps keep the guitar in tune if you break a string. Some key differences between Kahlers and Floyds: Floyds, like traditional Fender fulcrum tremolos, have their pivot point in front of the saddles. They pivot on sharpened knife edges against a steel post. When you push the bar down, it causes the strings to move up and forward (away from the pickups) and when you pull back, it pulls the strings down and back. Kahlers have their pivot point behind the saddles, and the saddles themselves (usually rollers) stay fixed throughout the trem's range. That means the string height in relation to the pickups remains constant. (At least until they reach the "slack" point where the pickups' magnetic field will pull them down to the pole pieces.) Kahlers pivot on a cam with ball bearings at either end. They are VERY smooth and can do a lot more subtle effects. Kahlers are also top-mounted and require far less wood to be removed from the guitar to install one. This space intentionally left blank. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Darren summed it up for sure. One minor correction is that the Kahler Hybrids are designed to be locked in a fixed position with a small hex-screw, or left free floating. There's no down-only mode. |
