One minor correction is that the Kahler Hybrids are designed to be locked in a fixed position with a small hex-screw, or left free floating. There's no down-only mode.

Hmmmm...I'd be up for trying a Kahler sometime, as they sound like they'd be perfect for me, but I've never actually seen a guitar with one, let alone played it...

Question...would it be possible to swop a Floyd-rose trem for a Kahler without hacking up the guitar?

Probably best to email Kahler directly to ask this.

I'd guess that the models that mount on two posts would be closest to Floyd-swapping compatibility, although Kahlers don't need nearly as much routing underneath as floyds or any other traditional fulcrum-type trems.

I believe you would have to remove a little bit more from the topside to accomodate the Kahler, but what I've seen is Floyd cavities being filled with a woodblock and then the the Kahler is installed. Gilbert had this done to one of his early PGM's I think.

Kahlers are amazing vibrato units. Smoothest I've played, alongside a Wilkinson bridge. I tried one on a Peavey Tracer at Sam Ash up in Cleveland...man, do I wish I would have bought it!

I'm assuming he's going to want to mass produce these rack pies, and why not? I love racks, I love pies, so put them together and you have pie covered titties. - JJ
