![]() ![]() | 22 fret 6 string tuned to A# = BAD ? I just saw a few tempting Parker guitars and I love them. They cost a bit more then the 7string that I would be but I think they are much better then th RG7321 or the Washburn WG587... The problem is... 22fret, 6 string, tuned down to A#? I would lose most of the high notes and that's not good for soloing ![]() It's so shit, there are only a few 7 strings in HUN for my price range ![]() |

One possibility, if you really prefer the six, is to use a Kings X or Zakk Wylde type tuning to give yourself the best of both worlds, for instance... AEDGBE AADGBE (Zakk uses this one a lot) BF#DGBE (Kings X have quite a few songs in this one) BADGBE (Again, another trademark Zakk tuning) 'If one octave isn't interesting then who the hell cares about the others?!' If I were you, I would hold off and get a 7-string so I could have the low notes, middle notes, and high notes. With a 6-string, you'll have to sacrifice something (either the high or the low -- or the middle in some of the tunings DR mentioned). |

Parkers are the best 6'ers around. I owned 2. Ironically, I tuned both of them to Bb. Those Parkers are the best for detuning, because its SO clear, so resonant, so alive, perfection in every way. |

![]() ![]() | Well I have an idea but it's not so good for sweeping (I don't do that anyway) or if you want to play a scale through several strings.... So, from deepest to highest string: A# D# G# C# A# D# ... so there is no G string here. What do you think about this? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | interesting approach. I've never heard of somebody just kinda skipping a large chunk of notes. Dunno how that works as far as string tension and tone and such. The tonal difference will be a big jump from the C# to the A#. But then if you're basicaly doing it intentionally with that seperation, it could be interesting. Have you messed around with that tuning at all? |

![]() ![]() | Allright then I will tell how is it working if I try it. The main idea is that I want a tuning on a 6string that's ok for playing riffs writen for 7string guitar, without losing the high notes. The disadvantage that I found is that you can only play chords on the low strings, you can't do sweeps, and you can't do fast runs, I mean, you know start a scale from the low strings and play it to the highest strings. But I think you can still play solo's in this tuning... I was also thinking that I just tune my 6string like a 7string and I will lose my high E string, but I tried it out and I didn't like soloing without those high notes. |

![]() ![]() | Yeah, that will be the best choise... the only problem, that I said before, is that there are realy few 7 strings here, and they are overpriced... so it will be a long time to get the money. |
