sounds like you are gripping the neck too hard when you play. Try easing up a bit and use your thumb to just hold the neck as opposed to squeezing it.

It's also possible you have a thumb position issue. Do you keep it centered on the neck, or "wrap it around" the top of the neck?

Well I start to feel it after a few minutes of playing scales, it's not a sharp pain. I place my thumb somever under the low A string. Is it importent to keep my thumb allways at the center on the neck?
Is it possible that that reason I puss the strings too hard that my strings ar too hard or the action is too high? |

Make a conscious effort to press the strings as lightly as possible while still getting a clear sound and keep your hand relaxed at all times. After a while this will come naturally. My hands never hurt.

Another good thing is make sure youre warming up properly before playing scales. Thats very important! =)
Definitely loosen up as the others suggested. Another possibility could be that your muscles are cramping up due to lack of oxygen/blood flow. Rub your hands together, stretch them out and make sure they're warm. Try to work your way up to playing scales at faster speeds as well. The problem is that my teacher newer says anything my technic, I mean when we practice scales and I make several mistakes, he never sais what do I do wrong. I need to puss the strings very hard if want to hear every note clearly, for example, I'm learning Bring it on home from Led Zeppelin, and I can't play the fast part without pussing the strings hard. |

I know what's my problem!!!
I practice minor pentatonic scales in different positions, I don't know how do you call this but I play 3 notes up then the begining note again, so it looks like this: 1 2 3 1, 2 3 4 2 , 3 4 5 3, 4 5 6 4, etc... So, first, I puss the strings to hard, I think becouse my start has small frets, but I can't realy puss them lightly ![]() Secound, sometimes a miss the high B and E strings with my left hand... any idea what to do? And the last one, sometime I miss the order of the notes, I mean I play 1 2 3 1, 2 3 4 2, and then 3 4 5 6, or I just stop and don't know what will be the next note And it's soo , know I play it much worser then the first time, and If I try to practice it I just get angry and drop the guitar down, but I most play it perfectly next time at the guitarteacher ![]() Again, I'm ![]() |
