Man i say that some luthiere book it's good too, but there you have a lot of free stuff.

Try to buy some luthiere books, and looks on the P2P programs.

I was wondering if I could use a six string bass neck and just replace the nut to make myself a nice neck thru body 8 string...

thanks

You'd have 34" scale, though.

...which would sound fantastic!
and in my experience the 34" scale is very playable and allows you to use light gage strings for a very clear tone.

but most guitar strings I can't get to reach a 34'' scale bass. I also thought of using a 6 string bass and moving the bridge to 30'' scale but the whole refretting thing would be a pain, but then again i guess building an 8 from scratch might be seen as a pain

I play a 36" to 32" multi-scale 7 and I've only found a few guitar strings that wouldn't reach the 36" scale. Every one I've tried has had no problem reaching the 34"scale (my middle string). You do have to take into account the length between the nut and the tuning machine - but it's certainly easier to adjust the tuner placement than refret the neck.

check this out

You've got your head down
You've got your eyes closed
You look so pitiful now

Your body encrusted with ash
Breath heavy with toxins
Hair singed and matted
Clothes frayed and burnt

You are left with nothing
