if you want something new, get a rg1527 or a 1570(for 6 string), both are around 600$ or so. If you dont mind used, check out a RG 550(6 string) or RG 7620. RG 7620 is a very good guitar, i love mine, i paid 375$ used w/ hardcase for it. But i did have to do work on it since the previous owner screwed up the electronics (So i had it rewired, and everything is fine)

yeah, check around for used RG's. they're great guitars for not alot of cash.
i got my sixstring RG570 slightly used for $400 w/ case. i don't think the pickups are stock, but i'm not sure. i should have checked when i rewired it  . i got my sevenstring RG7621 nicely used for $250 w/ gig bag. i also had to rewire this one too, as the previous owner had actually pulled out the pickups for another buyer, with whom he lost contact. lucky me!!  ...but don't check around me, because i don't think i'll be selling these anytime soon!!  |

OH!
Another good Gibson-ish guitar that would be good to try are the Ibanez SZ series. They're quite well built and are fairly cheap too. The pups are kinda crappy sounding in my opinion but that's just me. |

hahaha i dont own a 7 string but i would love to have one , i tried one, in my local guitar shop hehe and the action on the neck is like sooo perfect its insane. i will definatly get a seven string in the future (it was a RG7321 that i tried)
