Hella n00b question...(guitar in general not just 7)

lol thank you nick. Seriously. Ive been playing bass for a long ass time. Im no god or anything but I write and do shit that people just look at me and go "wtf?" and to me its nothing. Then I hear someone play "Motorbreath" on guitar and my brain goes into brainfreeze.

Im not really sure what economy picking is though. Maybe if you explained that a little more itd be something I could pick up on. Good call on the Iron Maiden idea, maybe Ill throw a couple of their songs in my playlist and give that a whirl.

Thanks overall to everyone's suggestions. Like I figured and feared its just something I have to practice. I was wondering if there was a trick I was missing and there really isnt. Granted, tilting the pick and holding it loosely never wouldve entered my head before reading this thread so that helps. Ill just keep plugging away at it. Bass is my life but Ive always been intrigued with guitar so Im definitely not giving up. Thanks again for the help.

Well it makes sense, but seems to be even more complicated than alternate picking. I guess I need to start with alternate and go from there.

Really? I think it's a lot easier than alternate picking. I guess that's why they call it "economy" picking. Because it's easy and economical.
