First I will go over the variations of standard tuning.
Bb tuning is 1/2 step down and looks like this (Bb, Eb, Ab, Db, Gb, Bb, Eb) A tuning is 1 whole step down and looks like this (A, D, G, C, F, A, D) Ab tuning is 1 and 1/2 steps down and looks like this (Ab, Db, Gb, B,E, Ab, Db) G tuning is 2 whole steps down and looks like this (G, C ,F, Bb, Eb, G, C) Gb or F# tuning is 2 and 1/2 steps down (like an 8 string) and is (Gb,B,E,A,D,Gb,B) Next is drop tunings Drop A is when you detune the low B to an A (A,e,a,d,g,b,e) Drop G is A tuning with the low A dropped to a G (G,d,g,c,f,a,d) Lastly is double dropped. the only one I use is Drop A Drop D ( and I am pretty sure COW from Fear Factory uses it too)and its standard tuning with the low b dropped to an A and the low E dropped to a D (A, D, A, D, G, B, E) you can also tune up ( if you want tuning up info just ask) but I rarely do that and as for strings I use Ernie ball Earthwound acoustic strings 13-56's and I buy and extra high E for everything but I usually don't tune lower than A Standard tuning. Hope that helps |

I tune to A standard(ADGCFAD) and I use DRs.
7StringofAblicK-This is my footswitch. it changes channels on my amp - just like on a television, but I only have four channels.

Here's the tuning on my Samick POS7: low to high: GDGABbBC if you don't care about range, it's a cool tuning for some craptastic amusement. The low G is 98 Hz.
For more range, try a 49 Hz G and go up in fifths, then turn around and do fourths like GDADGBE or GDAEAC#F# or GDADGCF or GDAEADG if you really want range. |

I want to thank everyone for help, but i have another beginner question.
My tuner can tune ,B,E,A,D,G,B,E and can tune flat up to 5 bbbbb... When i would like tune the 7th B string to A .. well i just cant.. lol... I heard you can tune the guitar to alternative tunings, by holding the string on some fret and then standard tune the string (while holding ) If thats true what fret should i hold on strings to tune the guitar to tunes that ohmanthisiscool wrote Thanks EDIT: And what strings a re the best to use for every tuning ? |

to tune to A standard you could use your tuner set 2 half steps (one full (or whole) step down as for strings... i think as a general rule i would go up .01" in guage for each whole step down so for ex. 9 E standard (or B standard on a seven) 10 D standard (" A " " " ") 11 C standard ( G " " " " ") You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |
