Being a Beginner Sucks!

A while ago somebody posted a thread about missing that beginner feeling. As someone who's a beginner for a second time I have to say it sucks. I was decent about 12 years ago in college and then got into a car accident and had to sell all of my gear. Now I've finally got the cash to buy the gear I want and am learning to play again and it is possibly the most frustrating experience EVER.

There is nothing quite so discouraging as trying to play something you can clearly remember being able to do easily and having your hands just not cooperate at all. Ah well, enough bitching, I want to practice some more before I crash for the night

Dude, good for you for even trying. A lot of adults give up to easily and refuse to challenge themselves. Keep it up!

Honestly it boils down to the fact that I still enjoy it. I just get pissed off at myself for waiting this long to get back into it, as I really am starting from square one again.

Thanks for the encouragement

lachrymose is a jewel in the rough
kind of pisses me off that when i was 7 i could play straight from sheet music but can barely follow it in time now.

then again i hate sheet music, and never really knew what was truly 'happening' in the music so it was probably a lost cause. but yeh, starting over sucks. especially with guitar with the sore fingers n all.. stick with it though, you've done it before, that should be motivation enough.

I came out of the womb a virtuoso, so I can't relate.

Actually, I was about a month or so without a guitar until I got the 1077, so im feeling the short term effects of what you're going through.

POOF!

That sucks..

I know this isnt quite as bad, but last year I had no life and turned down my gf often just to sit at home and practice my speed.. Then I managed to get a full time job, which was like 10 hours a night (so overworked) so I got to play like barely an hour a day, and then my days off (but obviously wanted to spend that with friends, else id go insane!) so after doing that for 6 months, My playing suffered badddd..

Ive been out of a job for 3 months so far, playing lots but I still are not back to my speed back then, but its because I don't really practice it anymore, Music theory getting ready for university is more important to me.. So learning that, but it still sucks when I try to play something like Technical Difficulties which I could play before, and my hands wont stay with the song anymore =[

Hehe dude, I'm lucky if I get to practice an hour a day. Between work, wife, and house there's just not a lot of free time. But yeah the hands not cooperating with something you think you should be able to do is a bitch

Mykie is just really niceMykie is just really nice
Were all still learning, shit after 6 years of playing 7s, I'm now learning how to play leads. It was hard for me because my fingers are so small and my pinky can't reach the fret board at all when I use the high e string. So I rock it with only 3 fingers, but I'm getting it down.
