I prefer the look, too. I'm not sure if there was a profile change when they introduced the stripe or not, unfortunately - my only experience has been on one-peice 7620 necks.

Both my 7620s, one having an F 97 serial # and the other (a GN) having an F 99 serial #, don't have the bubing stripe. My 2000 S 7420 does however. I love the looks of the bubinga stripe, it looks awesome.
