Vai had a Jem with that type of fret-curve thing going on and i also think there was a Gambale Yamaha signature model with the same thing.

I think it's basically the same basic principle as the earvana nut thing but done through the frets instead (but i could be completely wrong ).

Bit of a pain in the ass if you ever need a re-fret done quickly though.

No, this is based on very old calculations as well. (regardless of what they claim) Keep playing and some day you will see the light once your ears mature a bit. The standard 12-EDO system we use is pretty archaic and awful. It was invented in China somewhere between 500 and 900 AD. Tempered tuning, although somewhat esoteric, is quite rich in tone.

Fret wave owns the patent on curved frets, so I see a possible catfight over this one.

The Gambale Yamaha was tuned with the fretwave system, that only tempers the notes on the first couple frets, then phases out rapidly back to equal temperament.

There are no real simple refrets as far as I know, unless you have a plek machine, anyway. Being in tune is more important to some people, I guess.

Quite frankly, I love the idea, but their website is full of inaccuracies and contradictions. Is their temperament Bach's well-temperament or something new? Are the positions calculated or not? I think it's just poorly translated.

Me too! I wonder if they would do a seven string.

It'd be swell if someone would temper out starting from 17-EDO and 19-EDO to see what happens.

If they will do a seven string, I'll seriously consider being the guinea pig to check it out.
