yea i have a peavey 5150 combo and its only 60 watts but 60 watts of tube is louder than 60 watts of solid state amps (but it dont meant that solid state amps are bad... but most of the ones i've heard are... i just love the warmth of the tubes ).

I would recommend taking these cats advice soon. When I was starting out, I did the same thing your doing now and played that way for years (feedback uncontrollable) and I lost the high frequency in my hearing. I wish they made "Hearo" back then too. I was young, dumb, and you know the rest.
