5 stringer

I'm in the market for a bass. I want a 5er. I don't play bass at all. I messed with a few but thats as far as that went. I want to do some home recording, nothing pro, for my own enjoyment. I don't want to invest a ton because bass isn't my thing. What are your thoughts on pups, eletronics, etc... I play mostly metal and I prefer a thin fast neck profile.Sound Gear, LTD, what? Definantly not a Fender or any copy of. I detest Fender.

How Heavy is Too Heavy?

I am very rude.

those curbows are what got me into 5 strings (which got me into 7s), and are IMO easily the best basses in their price range

I think my Peavey has a better acoustic sound (will make sure if and when I get new strings for the Curbow). I think most of the cost is for the electronics (which are superb). Also, my Douglas isn't too shabby...though again the electronics are better on the Curbow.

Question authority. Don't ask why, just do it.

Those Cort Curbows are a steal at the prices I've seen. I'm playing a Conklin Groove Tools 5-string, and I'm pretty happy with that.

I have a BTB405QM TK that has a silly thin neck for a bass. Just a tad bit thicker than my RG1527. The only thing is that the 35" scale might make you hate it.

Rondo Music Home Page

My friend just got one of their 5 strings as a beginner bass. I hear good things about Rondo instruments here..and since I thought it'd be interesting for him to start out on a 5, I recommended it to him.

It sounds fucking awesome, it plays well, it's setup pretty damn sexual as well..

I'd say check them out for shizzle.
