Ruins is just really niceRuins is just really nice
this is exactly my experience i went to some local GC to try bass amps i tried everything i could and everything even the most expensive ones sounded like total crap to me i play finger style and i play fast tubes were the worst for my taste i was looking for clean deep punchy sound that each note i make you hear it as punch
now days i ended up with some home made custom solidstate with 1 15inch speaker that delivers me everything i needed and was looking for

and to summarize what i want to say
solid state bass amps>tube bass amps

i i have played both, and own an ampeg svt 70's reissue. i personally prefer the sound of an all tube amp for guitar OR bass. Solid state power amps and in a lot of cases preamps as well sound better with bass than guitar in my opinion. The fact still remains that i feel full tube rigs sound better than hybrids. I would find out which one you like better by playing them if you have the chance and go with that.

I always say that if you can save up and get what you want first, you'll be happier than if you got something in the meantime while saving. just depends if you -need- something right away.
That pretty much sums up where I'm at now. I'm going to play whatever I can get my hands on tomorrow, and I'm pretty much definitely going 4x10 and maybe adding a 1x15 later if I'm gigging a lot and feel I need that extra tone.

Also, I do need something right away as I'm hoping to get a band or two going soon, and need a proper bass rig, and have no real bass amp at all (I play through my guitar rig right now, sounds good, but wouldn't work for playing live or jamming with a band).

I did not play anything, which may turn out to have been dumb, but I figure with the kind of tried and true gear I've chosen, it'd be tough to go wrong, and if it's just not right for me, I can likely sell it locally for what I paid for it, or close to it.

I won't say what it is yet, as it'd spoil the picstory that's likely to follow

Shotglass is a jewel in the rough
I'm even excited for it.
And I don't understand anything about it!

I'll probably be the one here to sign for it so I'll be the first to see it in box form.
