What do you use for E0 then? I can only find ProSteels up to .145. What scale lenght does your bass have?

I've considered one for a while, but am torn between it & the newer Ocean Basses.
I have played the Ocean basses which are just guitar centers "brand" along with raven amps and laguna guitars. While there nice there is no way in hell I would pay $799 for a indo made bass For that I would buy a $200 rondo

Also I have been extremely underwhelmed with the peavey basses I have tried

ghoti is a jewel in the rough
I bought a Peavey Grind B-stock bass 6'er for about $250. It plays and sounds awesome...acoustically. The pickups and electronics aren't its strong point, but for a low-cost neck-thru bass it's pretty nice.

Interestingly, I found the same model at Guitar Center a couple weeks ago and it didn't play or sound nearly as nice as the one I have.

The Ocean basses are indeed quite nice, but the price-point is a bit high I think...maybe so it looks like you "save" more when/if you bargain them down to what you really want to spend.

Anyway, Rondo or Rogue (Musician's friend brand) are great bargains -- you can get a Rogue 6 with 3-band eq for $229 and it sounds really nice...pretty "thuddy" in my opinion compared to some but with the J-style p/u and 3-band eq it's quite versatile tonally. Only thing is there was epoxy on the high string nut slot and the neck tolerance wasn't that great...qc on that thing not the greatest, but bang for your buck they're still a gread deal.

I have a Douglas fretless 6-string from Rondo. For about $200 it's an OK deal considering there were cracks in the poly on the back and it looked like it had been dropped on the bottom when it came to me...I'd have had to pay an extra $50+ to get a replacement and it plays and sounds nicer than many several times the price so I let it slide, but it was disappointing nonetheless.

I haven't seen them stickered at $799.00, but more around $599.00.

I would get the Schecter Stilleto 5 for $799.00 before I'd get the Ocean, but I'd get the Ocean for $599.00.
