But the other strings sounded great and actually like the Root-5th-10th voicings for chords better that the open or barre equivalents (They are also easier FOR ME to play). Then there's my guitar in fifths, the F needs to be a bit bigger (I have a spare .75 bass string lying around that will be used). My C needs to be (slightly) bigger as well. And on the treble side I have the opposite problem, the D,A, and E are way too fucking tight, and they hurt my fingertips like no other. STARBUCK'S IST KRIEG!! Not a good idea, I stopped to air guitar the solo!! : shred :" - stuh84 | |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Finally got to try this on my new acoustic fretless! ![]() I love the way fifths sound on acoustic instruments; they just make the whole thing resonate so much more. CGDA felt pretty good on the standard strings that came with the bass (unsure of gauges), and the low C worked pretty well, which suprised me, as I expected it to turn to a pitchless 'thrum!' on the acoustic. It was pretty disorientating at first, but there's some really cool stuff lurking in this tuning. It's harder to play walking lines due to the constant stretching and position jumping, but the chordal possibilities are awesome, and as I said, the tone is just stunning. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | A small update...I've discovered that this instrument in this tuning is excellent for faux-Indian phrasing, a la Jonas Hellborg. It's suprising how logically scales line up in fifths tuning... |
