I see JustStrings.com - Strings for guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, fiddle and other musical instruments offers Elixir bass strings in two different lengths, but they don't specify what scales each lengths are appropriate for. I tried the Elixir website, but they don't specify. Thanks! "...and everything under the sun is in tune, but the sun is eclipsed by the moon." |

Really either works, it's just like how baritone strings are longer (helpful with reverse headstock guitars too). Based on my experience with my 5-string bass in standard tuning, you'd probably want to go with the .045 - .100 + a .120. I use thicker ones than that but I tune mine down 1 step. FTR my ESP F-205 has a 35" scale. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Well a light touch on a bass is usually a good thing, there's not much benefit to slamming into the strings with a bass. Especially with direct recording and whatnot. Also, .045.-.100 isnt light, it's like using 10's on a guitar....standard fair ![]() NP, good luck ![]() |

I hit everything pretty hard, dude. For fingerstyle stuff there's no need to really go nuts, but for heavier stuff you do want some punch behind it... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The bottom line is, since it says "Elixir NanoWeb" on it, it will be terrific regardless of gauge ![]() Hah, I'm not saying you have to pick light. I pick very hard I just have a different technique (its all in the wrists ). Again though, 45-100 is not loose or light, its just like 10s. 40-95 is like 9s, 50-105 is like 11s, etc.I'm using a .055-.130 on mine (thickest they make). It's cool, feels great, but just was noticibly muddier than the .125 that was on before it ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | i like a .130 set on mine, but for tuning down i would like something larger, like a .165 :P -------------------------------------- Æn Æppl Æ Dæi, Kiips De Dåktor Awæi |
