I don't remember much about them. I think those are the only two luthite basses Ibanez made though. My friend has an EDA 5 string with a piezo. I think it sounds really good, actually. The combined magnetic pickup + Piezo bass sound works really well, says I. The only bad part is they have a perpetual chemical smell.

I think there were three: EDA, EDB, and, obviously, EDC. Year of manufacture is something to consider, as the current EDB series appears to be made of basswood/maple/ash depending on the model (probably meaningless if you want an EDA905).
The EDA looks the funkiest; I think it was patterned after the Affirma series. The Cort Curbow has a luthite body (and an ebonol fretboard). |

Drew has an EDA905 I believe. And I've jammed with a bassist who had one and it sounded and looked great.

The EDA series also came with piezos and the EDB series went through a brief redesign incorporating Ibanez's triple-coil humbucker to replace the old pair of soapbars. The Cort Curbow is an INCREDIBLE bass for the price. Composite body, ebanol fingerboard, wicked EQ and pickups, and great upper fret access. Available as a fretless as well as in a 5 string model. ![]() eleven59 is also right - Drew owns a 905, so you could ask him about that. Just out of interest, why are you so set on the luthite body? ![]() |

Yeah, I own an EDA-905, though I'm in the process of getting rid of it (sorry, it's already spoken for).
It's a nice bass, especially for the money they were closed out at. It's relatively even-toned, and the sustain is quite good - almost too good, at times, where you have to pay attention to your muting so other strings don't resonate sympathetically. It also looks badass, which is of course important. My biggest problems were I never really found myself wanting to use the peizo (it sounded more natural without it, i thought), and the preamp was odd - it was a master volume and treble/bass boost one way, mid boost the other tone control with a center indent for the mags, and the same for the peizo. I'd have been happier with either an active bass and treble control shared between the two, or two passive tone controls. Still, a cool bass. But I'm with Stitch, why luthite?
