![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | SR505 My parents say they might get me something in the 500 or so price range. I thought it was time for something a little different and that a bass would be in order. What are your thoughts on this model? Keep in mind this will be my first bass. I want something that's versatile, as I won't be getting much else for a while. ![]() It's so sexy. ![]() ![]() Also, while I'm at it; what are some good (and preferably free) resources for learning bass techniques? You've got your head down You've got your eyes closed You look so pitiful now Your body encrusted with ash Breath heavy with toxins Hair singed and matted Clothes frayed and burnt You are left with nothing |

![]() | It's excellent for a starter bass. Some people find the Bartolini Mk. I electronics questionable, but I think the same can be said for most of the Ibanez bass offerings, except the Prestige series, and the stupid expensive GWB1005. The rest of the instrument, however, is very tough to beat for the cost. It has a Wenge/Bubinga neck, and it should be very thin, and very flat. The string spacing is considered kind of tight, but you're probably not going to be slapping much just yet, so that's probably not a problem. I like the shape of the body. It's not as thick around the edges as the older basswood SRs. I think it's a good deal better than what most beginners start with. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I played that on friday! ![]() It's awesome! And REALLY light! Ridiculously light! I would have bought that for the sheer Fieldy and Marco Coti Zelati (Lacuna Coil n00bs! ) effect but I went for the BTB405QM TK instead. I thought the neck was thinner and it played awesomely! Not to mention it's cheaper.![]() Go for the SR505 though! ![]()

![]() | I've got that same bass. I must say that I do like it a lot. The playability is great for me and the low B doesn't sound muddy at all. I've found that I have to tweak the EQ a bit here and there to get a more articulate sound but overall I couldn't be happier with this one. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | The SR505 is fucking awesome dude. I just got one a while ago with my bassist and the Bartolinis sound amazing. The neck is really nice and it's quite light as well. Overall, I didn't really find anything I didn't like about it. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | My BTB arrived. The neck is awesome! There's buzzing when I fret on the 1st-3rd fret on the B and E strings. The neck is better than the SR505 imo. Feels thinner. But it rocks all in all. Highly recommended if you can fix the buzz. |
