New 6-String Bass Questions...

I'm looking to buy a 6-string bass from Rondo. I don't need high range out of the bass, so I was planning to go F#-B-E-A-D-G with it to match my soon-to-be-purchased (read: when I get a bloody job) 8-string and work with my soon-to-be-tuned-down-a-fourth 7-string. I've been looking at the 35" Brice HXB-406 ((eBay item link)) and the 34" Douglas WOB-826 ((eBay item link)) and I was wondering if anyone had tried going that low with either of these. I e-mailed Kurt about the WOB and he said that he didn't know of anyone going down on that model but he knew that people did it on the HXB.

Any comments? I know I'll need to look for extra-long strings (Conklin's SIT packs?...) in heavy gauges, but can anyone speak from experience?
