![]() | I use a Carvin 2X15, which is pretty nice. It doesn't quite have the punch that multiple 10's have but it has a nice smooth response. I played through another band's 4X10 about 2 weeks ago. Very nice, very punchy, but I have to say that in a small space it can actually be a bit too punchy - depending on the equalization and type of pickups, etc. The other bass player had an Ibanez ATK 5 string and he was "punching" me in the face while I sat on the bar stool listening. (I am now trying to buy an ATK!) |

![]() | How do you like the 1820? I have seen them and thought about getting one, but the sheer size of the cabinet seemed a bit of a deterent. And that is coming from someone who uses a 2X15 cab. |

![]() | Well in my experience they are all quite different from one another and I like them all for different reasons. 10's have the most definition and quickness of the batch and 15's have the most bottom end and"pant flapping"ability! I personally like 12's for bass but sometimes they don't seem to go low enough for me.15's go really deep but are sometimes construed as being"muddy".12's are what a lot of players refer to as the"best of both world"with just about the same amount of bottom as a 15 but with more punch and attack typically associated with a 10 inch speaker. Everyone is different but I think it is up to the individual to decide what is best for them. Cheers! |
