Impressive stuff...
Just to clarify, your percussive harmonics method...are you striking the strings on the frets to get overtones, or is it something totally different? |

That was really cool Gary, nice playing.
![]() Wish I could see your hands - looks like you're using a very light touch, and it sounds great, but I can't tell how you're actually touching the strings with each hand. Would be very interesting to lean more about your percussive harmonics technique. |

I can do that. The idea was to be able to play any overtone, say root, 3rd,5th etc. on any note with any finger, as opposed to the open harmonics ala Jaco Pastorious ,Steve Howe etc. where there are a limited amount of chords and chord forms. So I can play a scale, arpeggio, chord, or single note and evey note can be a harmonic. Unlike open harmonics, I can play the same voicing in any key. I took a few years to develope the system. It takes time to memorize every harmonic striking position for every note on the fretbord. This example has some 32nd note lines where I alternate the harmonics between root,5th and octave. The effect may be too subtle for some. Thanks for checking out the clip. Quote:

I think I get it now...
![]() I can see why that would take a while...memorising the overtone series on each string still makes my head hurt... |
