Budget rig game
Alright you have $2000 to build a show ready bass rig. Here are the rules
1. Keep it under $2000 2. spec out the rig in full with make, model, new or used, and the "price paid" (also include any pedals) 3. Use numbers you can find online (musicians friend, Amazon, whatever). For 2nd hand gear cut price in half here is mine (actual rig) Eden D118 cabinet, used, $400 Eden D210 cabinet, used, $450 Peavey Tour 700 head, New, $500 BBE 383 preamp, used, $100 DBX 266 Compressor/Gate, new, $150 Furman M-8 Power conditioner, used, $45 Way Huge Pork Loin pedal, new, $170 Gator U2 and Gator U6 rack cases, used, $175 Total: $2000.00 |

Fixed for versatility.
![]() But if no PA was in use, it would be: Line 6 Bass POD XT: $200 Carvin HD1000: $280 Carvin BR410: $350 Total: $840 Or if you just want a real amp, trade in the POD and HD1000 for a Hartke LH500 for $350. With that, the total will be only $700.

$2000 is considered budget these days? My core rig comes out just under.

budget as in price one out. I've seen some of the boutique gear some people have, it gets rediculous.

My (real) bass rig:
Yamaha BBT500H amp head- $400 new Yamaha BBT410S 4x10 speaker cab - $300 new Yamaha BBT410S 4x10 speaker cab- $200 used Total = $900 However, I would say that this rig is priceless as Yamaha discontinued it and almost no one owns any part of the Yamaha BBT line of bass amps. It took me 6 ....ing years just to find a used speaker cab from this line.... WITH a Google alert set up for it that whole time. Every time I got an email alert from Google for it, it was because I had typed something about it. After 6 years of no Google alerts except for false alarms, someone decided to sell their bass rig with that cab in it. I simply bought the cab from him. |

Best budget rig I ever had.
Ampeg SVT 810en $600 (eBay) Ampeg b2re $free (Craigslist) Ernie Ball Musicman Sterling bass $free (trade for a guitar that was given to me) Boss ODB-3 $10 (friend) Boss TU-2 $25 (Craigslist) Aphex aural xciter bass di $20 (guitar center) 4space odyssey rack $free (good friend) Furman M8 $40 (guitar center) So $695. I would gladly explain all of the details on the free stuff! It came together pretty cool. Around that time I had bought tons of other stuff as well. A pair of Eden cabs, a Mesa 6x10, a tech21 landmark 600, ampeg svt350h, a trace Elliot 1810, a hartke 3500 and like a trillion different jazz basses. And a couple active ibanez things. |
