Crazy handmade custom NGD and a neat story (my bassists)

So a friend of mine had this bass he got when he first started playing from a pawn shop for cheap a couple years back. It has been sitting at his grandmothers for years because something was wrong with the wiring and is really beatup. He is moving and selling all his stuff for REALLY cheap like a Marshall cheap solid-state stack for 40$.

Anyways This bass he had has always interested me, its just seem extremely well made. Like a carved amazing back, abnormally comfortable neck, and it just feels extremely solid.

So I offered to help him fix it up and sell it. Upon further inspection realized it had a very insane pickup system in it. OBL active bass pickups, and one of the 3 knobs is layered and picks between 6 diffrent pickup selctions
I googled around and learned OBL is either hand made by bill Lawrence or designed depending on the year.

So i get it fixed and tell my best friend/bassist to buy it which he did for 150$.

So now we go on a super google hunt to find everything we can about this bass labeled

LADO MEDALLION

We learn it is most likely made by this Luthier, as long as it is authentic
JK Lado & Company. Custom Electric, Acoustic, and Bass Guitars Since 1973

After some emails, and no responses we make call to canada.

"helloz" He answered in his THICK Canadian french accent.

To sum up the conversation.

He received the pictures we sent him, he authenticated it. Explained to us that this bass costs $2,200+ (candian money) new. He also told us this is an older model and is 100% handmade, although he couldn't really give us an exact year. We told him how much we purchased it for and he said something in french and got way to exited. saying something like "did you buy it from someone on drugs". He then said if my friend ever wanted to sell it he would give him 800$ in that condition.

Excellent score! Should get it back in the game for sure!

Hell i'd even see about getting the luthier to fix it all up! Might cost a bit but totally worth it!

he wants to sand it down, all the hardware and the neck are perfect.

I cant wait to play and hear this thing again really exited for him.

I remember sounding it like a monster in drop A when my other friend had it put together a long time ago

I wish there was better pics of it also the back is like sculpted like kinda concaved

Hold up....you offered to fix up and sell the bass for a friend. Why didn't you find out what it was worth before selling it? I can't help feeling he's been a bit screwed over here.

Edit: I may have jumped the gun, you found him a buyer, I have no idea how involved you were, so I apologise if I sound like i'm making accusations

I didnt sell it for him, all the price negotiations we between my 2 friends. I just fixed the pickups and got them in touch with eachother.
