Interview: Mike Sherman of Sherman Guitars
By: Steve F

Sherman GuitarsSteve: Mike, tell us about yourself - Your history in the business, and how you came to be a master luthier.

Mike: First off, I’d like to thank the Sevenstring.org staff and its members for the opportunity for this interview. This site is by far the coolest website out there with a lot of talented, and knowledgeable members. You guys have made me feel at home here, and I thank you for being so kind and supportive in my work. I would also like to thank SS.org member, Eric Lovett (urklvt) for building my website, and being the promotional machine that he is!

I do...

Thanks for all the kind words, guys
I have been very fortunate to have been "in the right place, at the right time" so to speak. It enabled me to follow my dreams, and it allowed me to turn a hobby I love so much into a profession.

As with anything in life, it hasn`t been all fun and games.....there have been some hard times down the road.
It wasn`t easy opening those factories at 6am every morning after playing gigs every night on the Chicago Blues circuit, then having to get on a 10hp. spindle shaper spinning @ 30,000 rpm
I can`t tell you how scary it was to have a body split, and go flying off of one of those machines.....a 100mph projectile flying accross the shop....scary stuff!

You would be suprised at how many fingers I`ve had to pick up off the floor, and pack in ice, from guys lopping them off on saws. Knock on wood....I still have all of mine

Hell, Man.....just trying to keep up with Dime would put a major hurtin on ya!

That being said, all I can say is.....follow your dreams.....you will be suprised what you can accomplish
