Interview: John Tyrell of Interlock
By Metalfiend666

"Fusing elements of rock, dance, industrial and metal, Interlock have created the new sound of alternative music. The London-based cyber metal sextet boasts a considerable fanbase of loyal audiences, both across the UK and overseas. Starting life in 1997, founding members John Tyrell (guitars / programming) and Syan (bass) were driven by the need to break the mould encasing the alternative scene and create genuinely new music, unrestricted by genres or preconceived boundaries. This ethos has continued throughout the group's history to become its raison d'etre - innovate / create / evolve. The amalgamation of influences and bridging of musical styles has intensified and grown over the years." - Click here to read the entire article

GUITARS

Looks like I've just bought a Schecter Hellraiser for the US part of our tour. So expect to see me swinging it all over the place when I get back to the UK as well.

I've just blocked my Ibanez with a tremel-no.

Desecrated - what info can I help you on?
I never drop tune, so one fingered power chords don't figure in my playing style.
Tonality? I've spent a while sorting out how to get a great tone and the Framus stuff has helped amazingly.

Everything that Interlock does is dark. we never use major scales or anything that could be considered 'happy'. But hopefully there's still loads of energy in what's going on.

anyway, I'm sure you'll see me around!

I purchased Interlock's album "Crisis/Reinvention" yesterday on iTunes. I have to say I'm completely floored by how fresh and heavy this is. I implore all of you to check this album out, superb stuff. Very haunting, yet brutal and catchy.

Great job Mr. Tyrell.
