I refuse to touch a 5150 for the same reasons. I've played them before and wasn't too impressed but the fanboyism is what keeps me away.

Oh yeah, the 5150 was another amp i stayed away from, plus hearing them and not liking the buzzy sound. But, since I found one cheap, and biased it, well, it's a one trick pony, but, very usefull for recording to have one lying around! Rebiased and retubed those things I do really like, on their own, well, can take it or leave it. The tubes do make a huge difference though, the one I got was a block letter and had some of the original old preamp tubes in (when they were not skimping on them) and some JJ's, which explains why it just sounded like what everyone said they should. Glad I got one, as it's cheap, cheerfull, and aggressive as hell!
And the ENGL's, well, it's one of those things were I'll wait for the next big thing to come along, and then buy one that someone is selling cheap! I still want an SE though, it's the exception, as it appeals to the "look at all the buttons" nerd inside me!
