right, the problem is when you're running both pickups coil split. that's another reason i was sure it was a phase issue--because you only have the problem in position 4 and that's the only position that runs both pickups coil split. (position 3 runs them both full on, not split.)

to fix it, ibznorange is right: switch the green and white wires with each other, and switch the red and black with each other. but only do this on _one_ of the pickups, not both. it doesn't matter which one.

and in your case, it doesn't have anything to do with the magnets--that's why i asked if you were getting any hum. you said you weren't, so your magnet polarities are cool. (you got them set up right when you rotated the neck pickup.)

so swap those wires and post back!
