so yeah, if you´re going for the trans black, then flamed maple, and not quilted, is better, while quilted maple works alot better with colored finished, because the complexity of the patterns in the quilt is kind of masked by the black finish... colored finishes bring out those complex patterns.
of course, this is my opinion, but you can even see it in the pics. the trans black one doesen´t have alot of detail in the quilt, because it´s so dark, while the green is brighter, and you see the details  |
