IIRC, the New7 bridge is based on the Dimarzio Super Distortion, and the neck is based on the Super-2.

They're certainly a serious cut above the V7-7 and V8-7 from the 7420 in the neck, but there are also better options for basswood, IMO. The New7 neck actually has a bit of a following around here, to be fair.

My hunch is that the New7's are the same pickups that were custom-wound for the CST, so I suspect they sound WAY better in mahogany. They are also described as being based off the same pickups that the new Dimarzio/IBZ pickups are too, for what it's worth.

Theyre not BAD, but basswood isn't the best wood to make them shine. The Blazes are nice (I love the bridge), but the AN7 also rules in the neck.
